Alan B. Wachtel, M.D. is the founder and director of Familyhealth Associates, a multi-disciplinary private group practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of attention, behavior, learning, and mood disorders. He is the president of the Foundation for Family Health Studies, a non-profit foundation dedicated to public education and research. Dr. Wachtel is a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine, and an attending physician at Tisch Hospital, New York University Medical Center. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Wachtel is a former member of the Board of Directors of the New York branch of the Orton Dyslexia Society, the Advisory Board of Resources for Children with Special Needs in New York City, and the Advisory Council on Health Education for the Scarsdale Union Free School District. Dr. Wachtel is a graduate of Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, where he also completed his psychiatric residency. He was a Fellow at Cornell Medical Center, New York Hospital and completed post doctoral training at the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy in New York City. Dr. Wachtel lectures throughout the country on the diagnosis and treatment of learning, mood and attention disorders. He is the author of The Attention Deficit Answer Book.
