The Windward Institute’s Spring and Summer Professional Development Offerings

The Windward Institute has released the schedule for its spring and summer classes, delivering core courses and new workshops that span the domains of reading, writing, and language and social skills.

In response to the ever-changing educational landscape in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, The WI will provide its spring and summer offerings on a virtual platform.

Deliberate planning and past class participant responses through survey data were considered in the organization and delivery of the upcoming courses and workshops.

Key highlights of spring and summer offerings include:

  • A diverse topic base across age and content areas to target the needs of educators, speech-language pathologists, parents, and practitioners from early childhood to the middle and upper grades
  • An increase in classes focusing on early childhood literacy skills to provide all educators with a deeper understanding and proficiency in the importance of early identification and intervention
  • A virtual platform to enable educators, practitioners, and parents to engage with WI faculty around the world
  • New instructors from The Windward School, disseminating the expertise from The School’s proven instructional methodology
  • Classes on child development, led by experts in the field of psychology and education, which reflect current research and provide actionable strategies for adults to support children during a time of uncertainty

The spring and summer class offerings build upon The Windward Institute’s mission key pillars to:

  • Form partnerships with leading education institutions
  • Advocate for students with language-based learning disabilities

The Windward Institute (WI) manages all activities formerly provided by The Windward Teacher Training Institute (WTTI) that are external to The Windward School. The Institute serves The Windward School and the broader educational community by providing professional development, forming partnerships, expanding The Windward School’s reputation, and advocating for students with learning disabilities. The WI continues to offer all its programs on our virtual platform, according to safety guidelines mandated by the state due to COVID-19. On-site programs will resume at The Windward School’s Manhattan and Westchester campuses as defined by safety guidelines and at the discretion of The Windward Institute.
