Phyllis Bertin, M.S., a noted lecturer, teacher trainer and school consultant, and former Director of Reading at Windward Teacher Training Institute. After teaching mainstream and special education classes, she went on to become the Director of Special Education for the Weston Connecticut Public Schools, the Director of Education for The Windward School and a Board Member of the New York State Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. Ms. Bertin received the New York Branch Award from the International Dyslexia Association in 1999. She is co-author of Preventing Academic Failure (PAF), an Orton-Gillingham based reading program used extensively in the New York metropolitan area and throughout the United States and is an editor of the Merrill Reading Program.
