Emerson Dickman, JD

A practicing attorney for over forty years, Emerson Dickman has been an advocate for individuals with disabilities and their families, handling cases that protect the due process rights of pupils in special education and the constitutional rights of adults with developmental disabilities. 

He is Past President of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), a founding board member and past Secretary of the Alliance for Accreditation and Certification of Structured Language Education and a former member of the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities. 

He is also on the board of numerous professional advisory organizations, including The Children’s Dyslexia Centers and the National Center for Learning Disabilities and has received numerous honors including the 2012 Margaret Byrd Rawson Lifetime Achievement Award from IDA. 

Mr. Dickman has published articles and book chapters on dyslexia, educational advocacy, special needs planning and other topics in the fields of learning, law and disabilities.
