Alan B. Wachtel, MD

Alan B. Wachtel, M.D. is the founder and director of Family Health Associates, a multi-disciplinary private group practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of attention, behavior, learning, and mood disorders. He is the president of the Foundation for Family Health Studies, a non-profit foundation dedicated to public education and research, and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Wachtel served as a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the New York branch of the Orton Dyslexia Society, the Advisory Board of Resources for Children with Special Needs in New York City. Dr. Wachtel is a graduate of Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, where he also completed his psychiatric residency. He was a Fellow at Cornell Medical Center, New York Hospital and completed postdoctoral training at the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy in New York City. Dr. Wachtel lectures throughout the country on the diagnosis and treatment of learning, mood and attention disorders. He is the author of The Attention Deficit Answer Book.
