Why this course:
There is a “sticky” truth about how students retain information. Without deliberate planning and reinforcement, research shows that students may forget up to 80% of material within ten days of instruction (Murre & Dros, 2015). Fortunately, teachers can employ evidence-based techniques and strategies that help students learn, study, and retain information. This workshop focuses on highly effective, feasible, and efficient classroom practices that teachers can apply across content areas.
Key Learning Objectives:
Build self-awareness
-
Pace review and practice of previously learned content and skills with intentionality
-
Sequence skills and concepts in different orders and blocks during classroom and independent activities
-
Structure varied practice activities
-
Implement free recall checks for understanding with teacher feedback
