Why this workshop:
Effective notetaking is a crucial skill for all students to identify, synthesize, and retain important information and concepts. When students receive explicit instruction in notetaking, they are more likely to use notes consistently and independently. Understanding how to study from notes paves the way for a lifetime of school success.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Learn a research-based system for notetaking used in classrooms at The Windward School across content areas
  • Gain strategies for previewing text features, underlining and annotating text, identifying main ideas, paraphrasing, and generating summaries.
  • Utilize notetaking templates
  • Identify study strategies that can be implemented through a gradual release model.
