Windward 2020: The Campaign for Windward's Future

Windward 2020 Campaign Booklet 2017

Windward 2020 is currently in its second phase. Read more about it here

The Board of Trustees created a Strategic Plan in 2009 which focused on seven goals, with the overall theme of “saving more children” while “protecting the sacred.”  To that end, the trustees decided to construct a state-of-the-art facility to house the Windward Teacher Training Institute as the first step to then saving more children by opening additional campuses in the New York metropolitan area.  Windward 2020: Share the Vision started in 2011 to raise funds for these projects.

JCH Building Close UpPhase One: Share the Vision — Completed

The first phase of the campaign raised a remarkable $25 million from parents, alumni parents, grandparents, and friends. Thanks to their overwhelming generosity, Windward fulfilled its goal of building

• the Judith C. Hochman Building – a new state-of-the-art educational building allowing Windward Teacher Training Institute to develop a faculty that is expert in teaching children with language-based learning disabilities.

• the Manhattan Campus – a 60,000-square-foot facility expanding The Windward School to three campuses and allowing an additional 350 students to be served.

Phase Two: The Campaign for Windward’s Future — Current Phase

The second phase will ensure that The Windward School will have the financial resources to save more lives by

• creating seats for more Windward students; • providing additional financial aid in order to educate students regardless of financial need; • maintaining and strengthening our commitment to professional development for Windward teachers; and • teaching students with language-based learning disabilities to self-advocate.
