It is a pleasure to welcome you to Windward, the premier school for students with dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities. Our proven instructional program has set generations of children on the road to reading success and writing proficiency. We educate hundreds more every day on our two campuses in White Plains, N.Y., and we are delighted to announce the opening of our third campus in Manhattan.
There is no greater financial or emotional investment for parents than the education of a child, and when a child struggles with dyslexia or a related learning disability, searching for an educational environment that will effectively remediate those challenges can be fraught with difficulty. The Windward School is dedicated to delivering a rich, research-based program of instruction designed to teach children the skills they need to succeed academically.
I believe that there is no place like Windward, and after visiting our campuses, I am confident you will agree. Westchester Lower School, housed in the original brick building purchased in 1930 by the School’s founder Isabel Greenbaum Stone, is a welcoming place for children in grades one through four, where teachers provide the fundamental instruction so critical for young dyslexic children. Westchester Middle School, located seven miles away, serves grades five through nine and has long been a place where our older students acquire and enhance academic skills that will serve them well in secondary school and beyond.
Windward also opened a third campus, located in New York City. This campus opened in a splendid new space on East 93rd Street in 2016 and will enable Windward to provide its unique instructional program to even more children in need of its services.
Windward believes that a learning disability need not hinder a child from achieving his or her full potential. The goal of our administration, faculty and staff is to ensure that every Windward student reads with confidence, writes with purpose, and achieves the skills necessary to lead a life of fulfillment and accomplishment. Our School truly makes a difference in the lives of our students and their families.
We invite you to visit our campuses in White Plains or Manhattan so that we can share with you what makes The Windward School such a unique educational experience.
