Head of School Jamie Williamson is pleased to announce the appointment of Monica Bourgie as Chief Advancement Officer, effective May 3, 2021. Ms. Bourgie joins Windward in a newly formed role for the School and will lead the strategic and operational vision for the development, communications, alumni, and special events offices and programs.
An experienced non-profit executive with a background in strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, and communications, Ms. Bourgie’s work will focus as a strategic thought partner with the Head of School. Additionally, she will work with the Board of Trustees, senior administrators, faculty and staff, and families to advance Windward’s life-changing mission and increase, diversify, and sustain philanthropic investment in the School and The Windward Institute.
Ms. Bourgie, an accomplished and respected non-profit leader, comes to Windward from Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc., where she served as chief development officer. Previously, she spent 11 years as chief advancement officer at YWCA Greenwich. In her career, Ms. Bourgie has been instrumental in direct key operational functions including exceeding capital and annual fund campaign goals, executing successful fundraising programs and strategies, growing an endowment from $800,000 to $10 million, and directing financially successful major events.
Ms. Bourgie notes, “I am excited to join the Windward community because I believe in the work The Windward School and The Windward Institute are doing for children with language-based learning disabilities. I believe there is an opportunity for the School to grow its philanthropic efforts and look forward to leading the advancement of Windward’s visibility and impact.”
Born and raised in Westchester County, NY, Ms. Bourgie holds a BA in Management from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY, and a MS in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL. She currently resides in Putnam Valley, NY, with her husband, Mark, and two boys ages 12 and 10.
