Message from the Head of School: Providing Support in Upsetting Times

Dear Windward Community,

Windward is a community that is grounded in fostering respect, empathy, and inclusivity. Our work as parents, guardians, and educators in providing a sense of security and safety for our children has never been more important.

As we watch the concerning events unfolding in Washington, D.C., we find ourselves with an additional difficult topic to explain to our children, while we try to process the news ourselves.

Teachers, psychologists, and guidance staff members will be prepared to address these events in age-appropriate ways if they come up during school. I am also sharing two links below to help guide you in processing this with your children.

I take comfort in knowing that as a community we are united and committed to a safe and inclusive environment for all our community members. We are all in this together, and as community members, we will support and take care of each other.

Sincerely,

Jamie Williamson
Head of School
