Indigenous Peoples’ Day and Juneteenth Holidays Recognized on Windward Calendar

The Windward School community celebrates many holidays and honors historical milestone events within the classroom through the curriculum, ranging from Rosh Hashanah to Veterans Day to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and more.

For the 2021-2022 school year, Windward is formally recognizing two more holidays on the school calendar. Moving forward, Indigenous Peoples’ Day will be marked along with Columbus Day on the second Monday of each October, and Juneteenth will be observed every nineteenth of June.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a holiday that commemorates the legacy and culture of Native Americans in the United States.

Juneteenth is a holiday that celebrates the emancipation and freedom of all enslaved people in the United States.
