Announcement of DivE In Committee Members to Lead Three-Year Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan

At The Windward School, we are committed to proactively cultivating a caring, nurturing, and empathetic environment where everyone is valued and has a sense of belonging. Further, we recognize that this work is truly a journey and that we have much work ahead of us. In order to set us on this journey, and after much careful consideration, we are happy to announce the official launch of the DivE In Committee!

We were fortunate to have many more people volunteer to serve on the Committee than spots we had available—for which we are incredibly grateful. In selecting volunteers, the senior administrative team considered what each individual could bring to the committee in terms of background knowledge, commitment, skills (e.g., organizational, writing, interpersonal, etc.), and diversity of representation (e.g., role, race, gender, sexual orientation, professional experience, length of time as a Windward community member, etc.).

To that end, the Committee is comprised of one faculty member, one staff member, and two parents/guardians from each division. Head of School Jamie Williamson; Christine Moloney, Coordinator of Diversity; Jon Rosenshine, Associate Head of School; and two Board of Trustee members have also been selected to serve on the committee for a total of 21 DivE In Committee members.

The DivE In Committee has a serious charge to guide, advise, and oversee the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts of our Three-Year Plan. The DivE In Committee will be meeting monthly in addition to having regular meetings of sub-committees. Each committee member will be serving on at least one sub-committee, and each committee member will be prepared to GET WORK DONE.

The first DivE In Committee initiative will be to inform and finalize the School’s Three Year DEI Plan. You can follow the timeline of efforts on Windward's DEI webpage here. While only twenty volunteers could be selected to formally serve on the Committee, we look forward to engaging all members of our community in these intentional efforts.

DivE In Committee Members:

We are excited to see the DivE In Committee take shape, and we hope we will have each of you with us on this journey.
