John Manganiello will be the Assistant Division Head of the Westchester Middle School.
Dear Windward Families,
I am pleased to inform you that John Manganiello will be the next Assistant Division Head of the Westchester Middle School.
Mr. Manganiello completed his undergraduate degree at Lemoyne College in Syracuse, NY, where he double majored in History and Religious Studies. He also earned a Masters degree in Special Education, with a focus on learning disabilities from the College of New Rochelle and a second Masters degree in History from lona College.
John started his career at Windward and spent his first 15 years as a teacher, mentor, coach, department chair, and team leader at the Westchester Middle School. In 2008, in recognition of his outstanding teaching, Mr. Manganiello was awarded the prestigious Stone Master Teacher Award. Five years ago, he left Windward to become the Assistant Head of the Masters Middle School where he was responsible for the day to day activities of the middle school while providing guidance and instruction to students and faculty. In addition, he served as the Head of School at the Beacon School in Stamford, CT which was designed to teach gifted and twice-exceptional students. Most recently, he was the Director of the Prospect and Bridge programs at the Wooster School in Danbury, CT. Both of these programs are designed to help students with language-based learning disabilities by providing a supportive learning environment and appropriate instruction while also integrating with the mainstream environment.
Mr. Manganiello had this to say about rejoining The Windward School, “All of these experiences have been invaluable, and I have come to understand the importance of being aligned with a school's mission and philosophy. It is Windward's mission and proven instructional program that I most wholly aligned with. I am more than excited to be back home and look forward to the 2018-2019 school year.”
I am delighted to have Mr. Manganiello return to Windward. I hope that you will join me in welcoming him back.
John J. Russell Ed.D.
Head of School
