Assemblyman & Alumnus Robert Carroll Petitions for Early Screening for Dyslexia

Dear Friends of Windward,

Over the last several months, I have had numerous conversations with Windward alumnus and State Assemblyman Robert Carroll. As part of Dyslexia Awareness Month, he created an informational video and started a petition drive to change the way students in New York State are taught to read. The petition and the video call on the Governor, Mayor, Chancellor, and Legislature to fund universal dyslexia screening for all kindergartners and first graders, and to institute curriculum changes in elementary schools to utilize multisensory phonics-based approaches as part of a universal literacy program.
