Windward's Language-Based Curriculum
Please join us as Diane Happas, The Windward School's Coordinator of Language, explains the language-based curriculum at Windward and how it benefits your child.
Student success in the classroom depends upon many language skills. Classroom activities require that students participate in formal discussions, comprehend informational texts with long sentences and abstract vocabulary, and write coherent essays with well-formed sentences and varied vocabulary. For many students, completing these classroom activities may be compromised by difficulties with aspects of language. This seminar will address these important components of language, how disruptions in these areas impact academic performances and how Windward teachers monitor, guide and facilitate student language development.
